Country

Malaysia

Modern cities, cool highlands, rainforest and island beaches, with a Muslim-majority culture, halal food everywhere and easy travel between destinations.

Malaysia is our home destination. Kuala Lumpur is the usual starting point: a modern capital with the Petronas Twin Towers, large shopping malls and an international airport with direct flights from the Gulf.

Within a few hours by road are the cool highlands of Genting and Cameron, the planned city of Putrajaya and the historic port of Malacca. Penang and Langkawi in the north-west are a short domestic flight away.

Why travellers like it

  • Islam is the official religion: mosques, prayer rooms and halal food are part of daily life.
  • A mix of Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures in food, festivals and architecture.
  • Warm weather all year, with cooler air in the highlands.
  • Good roads, so families and groups can combine several destinations in one trip.
